The Mammal Society of Japan (MSJ) was founded in 1987 for the purpose of promoting and fostering mammalogy. The society publishes original papers in two journals: Mammal Study (formerly the Journal of the Mammalogical Society of Japan) as quaternary for papers written in English, and Honyurui Kagaku [Mammalian Science] as half-yearly for those submitted in Japanese. Submissions are considered on the understanding that they are being offered solely for publication by MSJ. Both journals are distributed free of charge to the members of the Society.
